Honda’s British-built Civic Type R has gone on sale in Japan.
Originally conceived as a European-only model, enough Japanese enthusiasts have now shown an interest in the three-door hot Civic for the firm to decide to sell it in its home market.
The first examples were shipped from Southampton to Japan last month and just 2010 units will be made available in Japan. Buyers will be able to choose their Civic in either Milano Red, Alabaster Silver or Championship White.
Honda’s Swindon factory is the only production facility in the world to produce the Type R three-door, and its Japanese launch follows its introduction into the Australian and South African markets.
As well as Civic models, the firm's Swindon factory also produces the CR-V and started production of the Jazz last month.

Re: UK-built Civic Type-R hits Japan
Its quite easy to buy a JDM civic over here, theres quite alot of import companies that sell them. I have just recently bought myself a JDM 2003 Honda Integra Type R DC5.

I hope so, I would love the JDM CTR to come over here. It's a much better car as Fith Gear proved on the track.
JDM For The Win!!!!
Re: UK-built Civic Type-R hits Japan
It would be interesting to know what the Japanese will make of our car, with its inferior suspension, lower power output, less stiff bodyshell etc.
I wonder if Honda will do the reverse and import the Japanese version here?
