Volkswagen has won the ‘Engine of the Year’ award for the second year running.
The 1.4 litre TSI uses both a supercharger and a turbocharger to power models from the Polo to the Passat CC. The award was organised by Engine Technology International.
The 1.4 TSI also won the 1 to 1.4 litre category.
Dr Rudiger Szengel, Head of Volkswagen Engine Development, accepted the award.
He said: “The combination of compressor and turbocharging provides an excellent basis for combining driving pleasure and low fuel consumption.”

Re: VW wins 'Engine of the Year'
Every test i've seen of these twin-charger engines has fallen way way short of economy claims. I'm missing the point with these VW engines. At least the Multi-air appears to be able to offer tangible performance and economy gains.
Re: VW wins 'Engine of the Year'
I wonder who judges the awards.....
But in fairness so they should considering the price premium of their vehicles.
