New five-door Mini revealed; first impressions of new turbocharged Ferrari California T; Porsche Macan gets full road test treatment; fastest-ever Jag estate driven

This week's issue of Autocar magazine, dated 4 June 2014, opens with the first pictures and details of the new five-door Mini.

Due on sale in October and set to be priced from around £14,350, the new hatchback should give the BMW-owned brand a significant sales boost.

Elsewhere in the issue, our road test editor Matt Prior takes the brand new Ferrari California T for a spin. Chief among the changes for Maranello's latest offering is a new twin-turbocharged 3855cc V8 engine. A controversial move or a sensible one – or both?

Deputy road test editor Matt Saunders samples a prototype version of the next-generation Vauxhall Corsa, which will be going after the Ford Fiesta's crown as the UK's best-selling car. We'll have to wait to see the finished article at the Paris motor show later this year, but our man gets a taste of its improved characteristics.

In a busy week for the road test team, they also serve up a full eight-page road test on the Porsche Macan. The most extreme Macan Turbo variant goes under the microscope.

As the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship prepares gets back into full swing at Oulton Park this weekend, former champion Matt Neal helps us compare his modern-day Honda Civic Tourer with a Honda Accord from the famed Super Touring era.

Our used car guru James Ruppert catches up with Phil Bevan, the boss of the Trident company which is trying to bring its frugal sports coupé to production.

James also bids a sad farewell to Shed Seven, his venerable BMW 728i. After two and a half years on our long-term test fleet, it's time for the big German saloon to sign off.

Our Used Buying Guide offers hints and tips for snaffling a decent second-hand Citroën C6 for about £6000.
