The 91st Pikes Peak hillclimb is well underway, with the last few competitors running their qualifying times up the special hill stage.
Peugeot has already set a ferocious pace, with Frenchman and nine-time WRC winner Sébastian Loeb setting a blistering 3min 26.728second time over the 5.1-mile course.
No competitor will get to try out the full 12.42-mile course until the hillclimb gets underway on Sunday. Loeb and his closest rival, Romain Dumas, are both competing in the Unlimited race class – but hundreds of other cars are spread across other classes — including open wheel, stock car and the electric car class.
Autocar will be reporting from the event throughout the weekend, so stay tuned for the latest from Pikes Peak.
