GM Europe "leaks" images showing new car
11 May 2009

These teaser images show the new Vauxhall Astra, which goes on sale this December.

The new car is seen with lead designer Marc van der Haegen and engineering co-ordinator Laszlo Kreth, and just the lights are covered by some design sketches.

There are also pictures of an early test mule with widened tracks that uses the body of today's Astra.

The new Astra is expected to come in five forms: a five-door, a three-door coupe, a four-door saloon, a coupe-convertible and an estate.

Engines available for the new car will include a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit, a selection of diesel engines, and the 237bhp 2.0-litre turbo for the VXR.

The first undisguised official pictures of the Vauxhall Astra will be published on this Wednesday.
