A5 will start at just over £30k
6 March 2007

The only thing that Audi’s managed to keep secret about the A5 has finally been revealed – the price. It will start at £30,175 for the base 2.7 TDI, and top out at £40,025 for the 4.2-litre V8 powered S5.

Official images of the new 3-series rival were leaked onto the internet weeks before Audi intended to reveal the car, which got its first official outing at the Geneva motor show today (6 March).

Unusually, Audi has launched the range-topping S5 at the same time as the standard A5. Usually it has a policy of launching the higher-performance S model only after the standard car. The order books officially open this week, and first deliveries of both A5 and S5 are expected in late July.

Our Verdict

Audi A4

The Audi A4 is an improvement over the previous version, but isn't good enough to topple the BMW 3 Series
