Rumours of production delays dismissed
26 January 2010

Speculation that the Jaguar XJ launch has been delayed has been dismissed by the company.

The first cars are due to be delivered in April, but rumours had suggested that production delays would push this date back.

These rumours were further fuelled yesterday when Jaguar Land Rover boss David Smith left his post.

However, a spokesman told autocar.co.uk: "I can absolutely assure you we are on schedule with the Jaguar XJ. We are about to start shipping the cars out to our overseas markets, and the cars will be in the dealerships as planned."

I don't see why delays would push delivery back, seeing as I overtook one a couple of weeks ago on my way to work on the M5 between Stroud & Bristol.

It looked VERY nice in the flesh.

It's not on schedule, it was originally slated to be with dealers Dec / Jan, and put back to April.

The rumours I'd heard were down to the touchscreen dual view sat nav. They had been having problems with it in the new Range Rover and wanted to make sure it was 100% sorted before they released the Jag.

Commendable.

It's so unlike any development of the original '68 XJ (as every large Jag up to now has been) that they shuold come up with a new name. I offer 'Munter'.

Last I heard was that first customer deliveries in the UK were due for 22nd March.

Prior to that there are two being delivered a week early via Jaguar's sponsorship of the NSPCC.
