Electric car maker EV Innovations releases details of Inizio EVS and Wave models

Electric car maker EV Innovations will launch a 170mph sports car at next month’s New York Motor Show.

The Inizio EVS has a claimed 0-60mph time of four seconds and a top speed of 170mph.

It is powered by a mid-mounted AC induction motor that is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox. Charge comes from lithium-ion batteries.

It weighs less than 1100kg and has a claimed range of up to 200 miles. A complete charge will take around eight hours.

EV has also said it will launch a second sports car 'for commuters', which will be called 'Wave'.

It has a claimed top speed of 80mph and a 170-mile range.

Deposits are being taken in the US for both vehicles and deliveries are expected to begin next year.

The Inizio’s prices start at $139,000 (£95,000) and the Wave’s prices start from $34,900 (£24,000).
