The Alfa Romeo Giulietta range will start from £16,995 in the UK, the company has confirmed.
The base model is the 1.4 TB in Turismo trim; standard equipment includes air-con, alloy wheels, electric front and rear windows, stop-start, LED lights and Alfa's DNA system.
At £16,995 it is more expensive than the entry-level five-door VW Golf 1.4 at £15,435, although the Alfa boasts more power and equipment as standard.

The Giulietta is cheaper than the entry-level five-door Ford Focus 1.6 Style, which costs from £17,945. As well as being cheaper than the Focus, the Alfa comes with more equipment and power than that model, too.
Five engines will be available: petrol engines include the 120bhp 1.4 TB, the 170bhp 1.4 TB Multiair and the range-topping 235bhp 1750 TBi Cloverleaf version. Prices for these engines start at £16,995, £19,495 and £24,495 respectively. The diesel range consists of a 105bhp 1.6 JDTM-2 costing from £17,895 and 170bhp 2.0 JDTM-2 costing from £21,195.
Three trim levels are offered on the Giulietta: Turismo, Lusso and Veloce.
The Alfa Giulietta will go on sale in the UK from July after its public debut at that month's Goodwood Festival of Speed. Alfa is taking centre stage at Goodwood this year as part of its centenary celebrations.

Re: Alfa Giulietta from £16,995
When the word quality is uttered I start to yawn ! Of the cars I've owned the most fun I have had was in an AX GT MK1 ! The Alfa has more than enough quality and a whole lot of passion to boot !
