ECU specialist Superchips is offering owners of the Vauxhall Astra VXR a power upgrade. A ‘stage one’ upgrade adds 23bhp and increase of 45ft lb of torque to the car. The service enables owners to increase the power of their VXR while retaining all of the electronic factory settings.

Toyota is promoting the installation of chargers to help electric car customers. British Gas is giving Toyota customers free installation of home charging points, and enabled by the government’s subsidised funding the overall free offer provides owners with a charging package worth £1,333.

Tuning company K-Tec has devised a tuning package that increases the peak power of the Renaultsport Twingo 133 to over 160bhp. The 1.6 VVT engine is treated to a high performance exhaust manifold and a developed ECU remap. Torque is also increased to 142 ft lb, which helps improve engine response at lower speeds.

A diesel-powered Mazda 6 has won the Grand-am-Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the first diesel to win in the history of the racecourse. The Mazda was the only diesel entered into the race, and its entry was the second for a diesel in the history of Indianapolis. A Skyactiv-D diesel powered the Mazda to victory over the three-hour race.
