September sales up 27 per cent year-on-year
12 October 2009

Land Rover’s UK sales were up for the second consecutive month in September, a rise of 27 per cent year-on-year.

Year-on-year Discovery sales were up 48 per cent, Freelander sales by 37 per cent, Range Rover sales by 25 per cent and Range Rover Sport sales were up by 20 per cent.

John Edwards, managing director, Land Rover, said: “It is encouraging that for the second consecutive month Land Rover has seen an improvement in sales figures.

“This is testimony to the outstanding success of the new 2010 model year vehicles and reflects a stability starting to return to the marketplace which is critical to the business.”

This is great news. And i doubt many (any?) have been due to scrappage! Just good products.

Completely agree. Good news for a change.

According to www.4x4mart.co.uk, Land Rover's figures for scrappage are as follows:

'Land Rover managed to sell 57 passenger vehicles and 30 light commercials via the Scrappage Scheme in September alone, taking the company to a total of 291 scrappage sales since the scheme was introduced in May.'

That's a higher year-to-date scrappage figure than I'd have expected, given the price of the cheapest Land Rover product.

Yes, I would agree. All it has done I suspect is bring forward a purchase which was already planned.

Watch sales (everybody, not just LR) plunge again when scrappage ends.

What a load of crap, typical miss leading story!

Go to any Land Rover dealer and see how many self registerations there are on the forecourt, my local dealer has 29 - 59 plates for sale and I know they are rubbish but 29 can't have been given back in a month!

Currently demand for Discovery 4 has outstripped supply by 3 to 1 and delivery delays for New Range Rover Sport and Range Rover are into Jan at the earliest due to high demand for particular spec vehicles.

Freelander is readily available in most specs
You can get off your PR horse now we all know you work for this crap!

Go onto Yeovil LR and see how many 59 plates they have! No waiting list just lots of pre reg cars that they got at a huge discount from Tata who are now asking us to pay for it!
Currently demand for Discovery 4 has outstripped supply by 3 to 1 and delivery delays for New Range Rover Sport and Range Rover are into Jan at the earliest due to high demand for particular spec vehicles.
This is not quite true the delays for the Range Rover and sport are due to the fact that there is a problem with the supply of the surround camera system and as this was pushed so much in the launch people obviously want this option. So its not over orders as we are being led to believe here it is a lack of the kit to make the vehicles as people want. Good try to turn negative PR into a positive though.

Now, this is so ridiculous. Here comes the usual guy, who just hates to see if Jag or LR succeeds somewhere. They usually come with amazing stories about the vehicle of a friend's friend which is so unreliable and a peace of garbage, therefore all of the JLR products are useless and the factories should be destroyed immediately, so that we can finally all buy the German cars to go with the mass. As we can now see from this truly remarkable post, provided that it is true at all, the number of cars at the Yeovil LR dealer defines the actual sale situation of LR cars in the whole world. Great and fully logical, really.

You really are a complete dim witt or do you work for Land Rover?

I have had 8 of the crap and every one has broken down and because it was ENGLISH I kept faith and bought again but when I had 6 breakdowns in one month alone all separate faults I gave up and bought Toyota which was great.

Now I have a Jeep which is made by Merc in Austria and is brilliant and has not gone wrong once in the 4 years I have had it!

Land Rover phoned me and offered me a £12k discount on a Disco which I turned down does that sound like they have a waiting list NO!

Go on the Sytner site and see how many 59 plates they have self registered does that sound like there is a waiting list NO!

Land Rover are giving dealers a massive discount to register cars then asking us the tax payer to give them money!

Ford and BMW spent fortunes on this crap why would we do the same in the name of Tata!
