September sales up 27 per cent year-on-year

Land Rover’s UK sales were up for the second consecutive month in September, a rise of 27 per cent year-on-year.

Year-on-year Discovery sales were up 48 per cent, Freelander sales by 37 per cent, Range Rover sales by 25 per cent and Range Rover Sport sales were up by 20 per cent.

John Edwards, managing director, Land Rover, said: “It is encouraging that for the second consecutive month Land Rover has seen an improvement in sales figures.

“This is testimony to the outstanding success of the new 2010 model year vehicles and reflects a stability starting to return to the marketplace which is critical to the business.”

Go and buy a lottery ticket quick you must win with luck like that!

Dave, like you I am not the greatest fan of Land Rovers (or rather not a fan of 4x4s. As 4x4s go I think LRs are the best of a bad lot). It can't stop me from reporting however that my brother, father in law, uncle and a good friend have owned or do own between them a Discovery, 2 Range Rovers, a Range Rover Sport and a Freelander and I can't recall any of them reporting any major problems during their periods of ownership. More lotto winners I take it?

As Land Rover garages keep telling everyone stock is hard to come hold off as it is so good I wonder why they don't look at the UNSOLD list of cars from Brightwells as most of the unsold cars seem to be Land Rovers!

Don't believe me? look below!

They are crap! No Jeeps UNSOLD!

Re: Land Rover's sales rise again

We understand why you would want the thread closed - it is probably embarrassing for you.

Relax Hyundai... ...you just got a bit wound-up and and got caught in a few fibs. (Although asking contributors to recommend winter tyres for an imaginary Ducati motorcycle goes a little bit further than usual in creative writing.)

There is no need to leave or get another new alias (although I could recommend "Walter Mitty" if you decide to).

We will still think of you affectionately as good old Hyundai (or Harundai or whatever)

However, you seem particularly sensitive to what you feel are racist comments. We all agree that there should be no racism on these forums. So, it would help us to ensure our sensitivity is properly calibrated if we knew for sure which race you are. You see, we thought we understood when you were Harundi B. Bakashi (or whatever the correct spelling is), but some of your comments (particularly your criticism of "foreigners") since your return under a new brand have left us wondering.

Wishing you the very best regards - and peace to all.
