Rally-inspired concept lacks the performance to match its looks

This aggressive-looking BYD hatchback concept may appear ready to launch an all-out assault on the new Subaru Impreza WRX, but underneath the wild exterior lurks the Chinese car maker’s standard front-wheel drive F3R, whose top-of-the-line 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine puts out a rather mild 98bhp. Still, the rally-inspired concept garnered plenty of attention among visitors to the Chinese show, prompting one BYD official to suggest they that should consider building it. One model that BYD won’t be placing into production anytime soon is its futuristically styled e6 concept. Created to showcase BYD’s technological know-how, the 4554mm-long five-door MPV combines a 99bhp, 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a 20kW electric motor.
