Mercedes' AMG division aims to grow sales by 50 per cent by 2017

AMG boss Ola Kallenius has revealed that there will be 30 Mercedes AMG models on sale by 2017.

Kallenius, who was speaking at the Geneva motor show unveil of the Mercedes A45 AMG, said that Mercedes’ performance offshoot would have the 30 models on sale by the time AMG celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2017.

The model expansion will see AMG’s annual sales lift from 20,000 units at present to 30,000 units by 2017, a 50 per cent increase.

The A45 AMG is the first model to be launched under the expansion, and Kallenius, who brought along American R&B singer Usher to unveil the new model in Geneva, described the car as “a vehicle to open a complete new gateway to the AMG world at an attractive entry price that will make an AMG attainable for new target groups”.
