These leaked and unofficial images are believed to show the final styling of the all-new Volvo V40
27 February 2012

More pictures of the all-new Volvo V40 have leaked out - including the first interior shots.

The pictures show that the V40 borrows styling cues from Volvo XC60 SUV, most notably the new car’s front and rear light cluster designs. The profile of the five-door hatch also apes that of the SUV, albeit scaled down.

The V40 is tipped to be the first car to get Volvo’s new range of modular four-cylinder VEA (Volvo Environmental Architecture) engines, which will be no greater than 2.0 litres in capacity.

Autocar understands the car will be marketed at young, active families and will be a premium product within the VW Golf class. Such billing will also appeal to the North American market, which Volvo is keen to expand in further.

Due to be launched officially at the Geneva motor show in March, the new V40 will be joined by a baby SUV, dubbed the XC40. The V40 is set to replace both the S40 and V50 in Volvo’s line-up, but the future of the three-door C30 is less clear.

Wow! I really like it. A stylish Volvo. I love the crease under the side windows.

Not bad except for the slightly fussy rear end that Volvo seems to specalize in at the moment.

That looks great! Much more distinctive than the A3 that has also ben "leaked" today, and far prettier than the 1-series. Lets hope that it is priced competitively, and marketed correctly

A lot more appealing than either of those 2, that's for sure.

Looks good to me. This along with the recently released new 1-series and forthcoming A-Class and A3 should give that sector the shake up it needs, the current range of 'premium' small hatches is dated.

Front end looks good but it all goes wrong at the back. The side line that goes all 'chunky' over the rear wheels turns it from nice and fairly sleek to bulky and incohesive. The rear end is just too fussy.

1-Series is pug ugly.

A3 is dull as ditchwater.

V40 is very nice and interesting.

New A-Class should look good (if it turns out to be a low roofed 3 door B Class) too.

I look forward to picking one of these up in a few years time.

Not as spacious as the current V50, and not as stylish as the current S40. It's just another bl**dy hatchback. The world doesn't need another hatchback. But it does look almost as good as the new i30.

I really like the look of this. If the prices are competitive and the engines are good, I think it will do well. Good luck Volvo...

Its another ant eater! Not sure about this one.. Looks interesting in the pics, but not sure how it will look in the flesh.. Nice interesting addition to a sooooo boring sector.. Will it drive well too?
