This is the new Honda CR-V, unveiled in remarkably realistic ‘concept’ form at today's Geneva motor show.

Already launched in nearly identical visual form in the US, the CR-V is described as an ‘all-new’ model and will go on sale from the autumn and be built at Honda’s Swindon factory.

Although Honda remains tight-lipped on the details, it is expected that the CR-V will be fitted with company’s long-awaited 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine.

The car’s ride and handling has been re-engineered for European tastes and the company says there have also been an extensive series of other changes that will differentiate the US and European versions of the car.

The US version of the new CR-V also has the unusual ability to read out text messages from the driver’s phone, a feature that may also make its way into its European sister car.

I hope it looks better on the roads than it does in those photos....

Seen a few on the road here in Phoenix,Az. and visited the local dealer for a quick appraisal. Better from the front than photos, especially in silver, but it has sadly reversed into an ugly tree in gestation. Better than falling from the very top like the current model! Very practical, back seats flip flat remotely, big boot, glass area with 'cab -forward' large windscreen. USA dash/instruments iffy - hopefully changed for Europe. Not done enough technically to challenge the CX 5, but no doubt usual Honda quality. All IMHO

I hope so. This is the sort of sensible tech manufacturers should be fitting to their cars.
