Autocar is calling on readers to vote for their favourite hot hatch of all time and crown the ultimate pocket rocket.

We want to find the ultimate hot hatch hero to honour with our Readers' Champion Award, which will be handed out at the Autocar Awards at Silverstone on 15 May.

Senior contributing writer Andrew Frankel has selected his 31 favourite hot hatches, but it will be your votes that determine which machine emerges at the head of the pack.

Scroll through the gallery above to see the cars you can choose from. Click the link here to select your favourite.

You'll need to hurry: voting closes at 11.59pm UK time on Thursday 15 March.

Peugeot 1.9 205 Cheetah

Back in the 80s I had a 1.9 Peugeot 205 GTI with a conversion called the cheetah . Think the garage was down Aldershot ?

Think the mag may have still been called Motor back then and you did a article on the conversion.

Power up from 130 to 150 BHP, even 16 valve golf GTI could not live with it.

Small sticker on the side  was the only clue on what it was.

Wonderful car
