This is Mitsubishi's next SUV, the Outlander, which will be seen in 'concept' form at this September's Paris motor show.
Due to go on sale in spring 2007, the new mid-size 4x4 will put Mitsubishi - a brand with historical strengths in the all-wheel-drive marketplace - into its fastest-expanding sector.
The concept is 4.64 metres long and is powered by a VW-supplied 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine (the same unit is already used in Mitsubishi's Grandis Di-D), mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The car features a third row of hideable seats for 5+2 accommodation, and an auto-folding mechanism on the second row.
An Outlander is already on sale in Japan, but the Paris concept will showcase the European-specification model, and mark the first appearanace of Mitsubishi's new C-segment platform designed for global markets.
