Currently reading: DS 5 Hybrid cut from UK line-up
With the hybrid accounting for just 3% of DS 5 sales in the UK, the French company has withdrawn the model from the UK market

The DS 5 Hybrid has been withdrawn from sale in the UK due to poor sales of the diesel-electric model.

A DS Automobiles spokesman told Autocar: "Sales of DS 5 Diesel Hybrid versions accounted for just 3% of the total DS 5 volume in the UK in 2016. In light of this, we decided to review the DS 5 range in order to introduce greater efficiencies.

"This range update applies specifically to the UK market. It is important to point out that DS Automobiles will be the first brand in the PSA Group to introduce a plug-in petrol hybrid vehicle (PHEV) before the end of 2020."

Peugeot, Citroën and DS outline plans for electric and hybrid future

This model will be based on the PSA Group's current EMP2 platform. PHEV models based on this platform will have an all-electric range of up to 37 miles and front and all-wheel drive versions will be offered.

A second, all-electric model will arrive afterwards, based on the new, smaller CMP (common modular platform). A 113bhp electric motor will form part of this plan for an all-electric model and fast home-charging will be achieved with a 7kW onboard charger. This will allow for an 80% recharge in 30 minutes. The car will have a next-generation lithium ion battery with a capacity of 50kWh.

If the DS brand is to be forward thinking.....

If the DS brand is supposed to be the luxury hi-tech spin-off from Citroen then deleting the hybrid makes absolutely no sense.

Interestingly they only say 3% of DS5 sales were the hybrid....what they miss out is what are the number of DS5 sales in total? Really low is the answer!

A look on 'howmanyleft' shows some interesting stats....there has only been an increase in 11 Hybrid4x4 versions from 2015-2016. For other Hybrid versions, the number on the road has actually decreased since 2015 by 9 - presumably write-offs. So net sales is 2 cars!

What the site shows is poor DS5 sales regardless of petrol/diesel/hybrid. DS4 is little better. What they need to do is a DS brand ad campaign showing that these cars exist as well as the DS3.
