Prodrive expects cheaper Impreza to match S2000 rally cars

Full details of Prodrive’s new Subaru Impreza Group N rally car have been revealed by the rally specialist.

The car gets engine and suspension changes and Prodrive is pricing the car to compete with rallying's new lower-cost category, Super 2000.

Graham Prew of Prodrive said, “The Impreza is a match for any Super 2000 on gravel, but the extra engine performance will really stand out on tarmac. The N2010 is a competitive alternative to a Super 2000 at about half the price and with much lower running costs.”

Prices start at £120,000 and for the first time, you’ll be able to lease the car for two years with an option to buy the car at the end of the agreement; the package includes insurance and rebuilds.

The car has to use the new larger 33mm air restrictor, specified by the FIA to balance the performance of Group N and restricted Super 2000 cars. But increasing the restrictor diameter from 32 to 33mm, fitting high-flow fuel injectors and recalibrating the 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine’s ECU increases peak power by 20bhp. Revised Ohlins dampers give extra travel at the front and rear. Prodrive has also strengthened all of the suspension bushes.
