Watch our man Harris’ verdict on the new 572bhp Audi RS6 Avant

You’ve read the twin test: now watch Autocar’s Chris Harris deliver the first verdict on Audi’s new 572bhp, epic performance estate, the RS6, in our exclusive, and exhaustive, video.Chris drove the new RS6 last week, and you can read about the car in our exclusive first drive, and in this week’s Autocar magazine twin test with bitter rival the BMW M5. However, Chris’ video captures the new Audi the way it was meant to be seen; in action, roaring past camera at maximum throttle, and exploding out of corners at rates that drivers of 2.1-tonne load-luggers have never known before.During the video’s ten minutes, Chris answers every question you could ask about this new Audi, including “what does it sound like,” “how fast is it on the road,” “what’s it like to sit in,” and “are the brakes as strong as the engine?” The most important one he contemplates is “in today’s emissions-centric car industry, should anyone really be making a 572bhp, 2100kg, sub-20mpg estate car?” Click here to find out.

Re: On video: hottest Audi gets A6 out of 6

I take Chris Harris's point about RS6's more usable engine/gearbox combo than the M5 touring, but he didn't say much in terms of their comparative ride/handling/steering capabilities.

I suspect in day to day motoring the power difference between the two cars will have minimal effect and it is the M5 that is the more enjoyable drive. That's the car I'd car for anyway and save myself 10 grand into the bargain.

Re: On video: hottest Audi gets A6 out of 6

The talented boffins have done it again ... wasted their talents on something as pointless as this car. For the price they are asking you could buy a decent sports car/saloon and a diesel estate. Shoot the marketing execs that came up with this 0 to IKEA in 4.6 seconds idea. No doubt there will be an even more pointless "hot" version from one of the Swiss or German tuning houses in the near future ... sigh.
