Bosses pledge to protect cars from too much German influence
2 May 2008

Future Lamborghinis will use no more than 20 per cent of Audi parts in an attempt to stave off criticism that the firm’s Gallardo shares too many key characteristics with the Audi R8. Company president Stephen Winkelmann has ordered a change in policy designed to maintain Lamborghini’s integrity. “We have an internal rule that in future common parts will never exceed 20 per cent,” he said.“In the future, we will always work together just on the hidden parts — parts that will not touch the DNA of Lamborghini.“That could include things like the electrical platforms that need high investment, or hoses and filters, but we have to safeguard against too much of it.”The new Gallardo LP560/4’s V10 is cast in the same factory as several Audi engines, and its block and cylinder heads are built on the same line as all of Audi’s petrol engines. Lamborghini industrial director Klaus Peter Korner said component and technology sharing with Audi was beneficial for the larger company, too. “Audi had no experience at all with a car like the Murciélago,” he said. “They learn from us to use smaller tools and cheaper tools for small series cars. In this way we are working together.“We have a quality benchmark with Audi. We get the best and the fastest, and Audi gets us the cheapest.”He believes that Lamborghini customers are not interested in the origin of minor components. “The customer isn’t interested in Audi or VW logos on a tube, or who each clip is produced by. We use the same parts [as Audi] when it’s possible and when it gives us higher quality. “That way, for the customer, it has to be an improvement when we share parts. When it’s better to have a unique solution, we should do it.”

i agree with this people doesn't care the origin of Lambo and other cars..Some models of Lamborghini like Audi but i think it is good idea to continue the combination..We can't think a model of Lamborghini without Audi protype..The Lamborghini sound it is very good because it is from Audi. But they can do a new start to create a new Model which don't like with some model of Audi. Lets see!

i say on thing the Lambo is more beuatiful of corse from an Audi

But the best and fast car is more expensive from a simple car (like Audi) but i don't accuse the Audi because at this season produce very beuatiful cars like Audi R8 and Audi TTS and Audi R4.

The Lambo is the best.. Try to takes another ideas (report: Lambo Company) to make a model with out Audi style

Just imagine paying £180,000 for a Lamborghini. Then opening the bonnet to show of the engine to your friends, only to see engine parts with VW / Audi written on them, embarrassing. Would you pay up to £180,000 to see VW / Audi written all over the engine bay, i wouldn't.

Having 'Ford' stamped all over the engine bay like a big Fiesta didn't really harm the reputation of the GT did it?

This isn't English.

Actually, if you did open up a Lambo's bonnet and see Audi / VW parts, I think that's quite a good thing. A mark of reliability. You'd know that the thing was going to work.

Trabalho agradável. É muito inteligente e é uma pia batismal do conhecimento.

If you convert that back from Portugese to English - it's not what I said but it's far more amusing.

Pleasant work. It is very intelligent and it is a baptismal sink of the knowledge.

I propose that all posts are put through the www2.worldlingo.com English to Portugese and Portugese to English translator before they get put on here. This translater tool is superb because it's literal. Hehehehehe.

We'll all be laughing too much to get pi ssed off with each other.

Here's one of JJB's using this methodology:

The original post read:

'I'll wait for MPW to reply with another of his lightweight pig-ignorant posts rather than address you're usual finger pointing - which when it's not picking your nose is usually well up your exhaust pipe along with your empty pea sized brain!'

In Portugese - it becomes:

'Eu esperarei MPW para responder com os outros de seus bornes porco-ignorant de pouco peso melhor que dirijo-me lhe sou o dedo usual que aponta - que quando não está escolhendo seu nariz é geralmente bem acima de sua tubulação de exaustão junto com seu ervilha vazia cérebro feito sob medida!'

Back to English - it is:

'I will wait MPW to better answer with the others of its posts lightweight pig-ignorant that I direct it I am the usual finger that points - how when it is not choosing its nose is generally well above of its tubing of exhaustion together with its empty pea done brain to size!'

Hahahahahahahahaha - I finally get him. Love it.

This could run and run.

There is a poster called Vik (who asked about mudflaps in the AOB section). He's just got a jigsaw out and wonders if you fancy joining him ?
