Hot Audis go head-to-head on the Autocar test track

Autocar has pitted the Audi R8 V10 against the Audi TT RS on its track test to find out which is faster.

On the twisty test route Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe gives chase in his long-term Audi TT RS, getting airborne at 90mph as he tries to prove the cheaper car is just as fast.

Can he succeed? Watch the video below.

The TT-RS did pretty well in the japanese (5-2010) best motoring 5lap Tsukuba battle vs cars like the Nismo 370Z, Subaru WRX STI Spec (JDM version), under the same conditons(not perfect conditons) it was 1.3s quicker than the Nismo 370Z and on pair with the WRX STI Spec C. The TT-RS best laptime was as quick as e90 M3 and faster than R34 GT-R V spec, cars known for their bad track perfromance (ironic)

Heres the Focus vs GTR video...

they go on and on about how the Focus gives you more confidence to press on while driving the roads in yorkshire; than the GTR gives. Yet never before has anyone ever said the GTR DID NOT give them confidence to press on on any such roads? In fact quite the reverse has been said and when I asked AC to explain not a word nothing. AC are not honest about these cars and tests. They do not explain the how/why of what they do, even when asked on here. They just show two random cars on some particular stretch of road and tell us one car smashes the other. They make it all about a headline and not about a story. Very much the standard these days of sound bites.

there is much more to the handling of the Audi R8 and TTRS its just that AC choose not to relate this information. That sucks as the last remaining magazine that does such things is a hollow shell of itself that would be evo.

I will end on a positive note the test that Sutty did of the Evora vs Cayman where he specifically wrote a story about how those cars drove was quite good- and you can really see the difference of effort steve put in on that story vs this one where he said almost nothing. J

Re: Audi R8 V10 v Audi TT RS - video

allright so the ttrs was able to keep up with the r8,but on the other hand the ttrs was pushing in all the corners and looked like a dump truck in comparison to the slot car like r8.I definately agree that cars like the r8 do not have 50,000-100,000 grand worth of more performance on the road. Then on the other hand some of the buyers of cars like that use them at the track where they can utilize all that performance and 5 to 10 seconds a lap faster starts to seem worth it.I am a firm believer that supercars are still the cream of the crop in road legal vehicles,on the road they might not be that much faster but that is not the point. The REAL selling point on cars like this is how they make you feel, and on the right road under the right conditions the thrills that you can get from a car like that is most definately worth 50,000 to 100,000 more! p.s.That is why hot hatches and sport sedans usually dont become the performance cars of the year at all the big car mags!
