Lewis Hamilton still on course to 2007 F1 championship title

Lewis Hamilton’s bid to win the F1 world title at this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix is back on track after motorsport’s governing body, the FIA, decided not to punish him for his driving during last weekend’s race in Japan.Hamilton, who starts Sunday’s race in Shanghai 12 points clear of team-mate Fernando Alonso, had feared either a points deduction or a grid-place penalty after being hauled in front of FIA stewards. Rivals had complained that his driving under a safety car period at the rain-soaked Fuji GP had been outside of the rules and contributed to an accident involving Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. However, the FIA has confirmed that it has not found grounds to penalise Hamilton, and the McLaren driver is again odds-on to become F1’s youngest ever champion, and the first rookie ever to lift the title.
