New 911 GT2 will have a 552bhp 3.8-litre flat six, a dual-clutch gearbox and rear-wheel drive

The new Porsche 911 GT2 has been spied testing at the Nürburgring.

Set to appear for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show next year, the car is again based on the latest 911 Turbo.

These spy shots show that while the car still seems to share much of its bodywork with the current GT3, extra flared wheel arches show it has become wider than the outgoing model.

A new side air intake also distinguishes the GT2 from its younger GT3 sibling, while a new fixed wing and larger wheels and brakes give a hint at some of the performance expected from the car.

A top speed of more than 200mph and a 0-62mph time of close to 3.0sec is expected from the GT2’s 552bhp twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre flat-six engine – something it shares with the new Turbo S.

The GT2 will take much of its mechanical underpinnings from the Turbo S, including its dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, the GT2 is likely to ditch the Tubo S’s four-wheel drive system in favour of rear-wheel drive. A new four-wheel steering system will make its debut on the GT2.

An RS version of the car, putting out more than 620bhp, will be revealed in 2015.

GT3!

The gt3 is far more desirable. It has a jewel : the NA flat 6.
