Nissan's soon-to-be-expanded tuning arm Nismo has developed this concept version of the Nissan Leaf electric car for the Tokyo motor show.

The Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept is strictly billed as a concept for now, but it is said by Nissan insiders to preview how a Nismo version of the Leaf could look.

The Leaf's all-electric powertrain has not been revised for the concept, meaning power and performance are unchanged. Instead Nissan has given the model a thorough styling overhaul, including an aerodynamic body kit.

Styling changes over the standard Leaf include LED lights at the front and a revised lower front bumper and new splitter that give the Leaf a wider stance.

There's also a black roof and blue mirror housings, plus black 18in alloys wrapped in Bridgestone tyres.

Other styling features include side skirts and a rear spoiler, plus a pseudo diffuser at the rear.
