The Aston Martin DBS replacement has been spied testing again, carrying less disguise than ever

The Aston Martin DBS replacement has been spied testing again, carrying less disguise than ever.

The pictures confirm that the production car will look near-identical to the new Project AM310 concept car that was shown at the Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance last weekend, and carry several design cues taken from the Aston Martin One-77.

The new DBS is expected to be based on the latest development of Aston’s familiar VH platform. The biggest changes are believed to be in the materials used for the construction of the chassis and the bodywork; Aston Martin is known to be considering using much more carbonfibre in its production cars.

The new concept is powered by the latest version of Aston’s familiar V12 engine, with reports suggesting it has been retuned to produce around 550bhp.

The new Aston DBS will go on sale in 2013.

styling or tech dated

Seems Porsche can still sell well because their under skin tech still stays up to the minute vs their competitors, despite the styling staying the same.

Aston are giving us very similar styling, but with the same engines and same old platform underneath. Still their sales will prove if they were right, and it seemsyou can hock anything to China nowadays if it has a posh badge, although it's dangerous for Aston to rely on this for a long term strategy.

I still want one no matter how derivative the styling is.

best you go buy one then - their sales are getting on for half what they were in 2007.

That's the issue here, 911s still sell well, their formula works why change it.

Astons don't. If you can't sell the existing car what hope do you have of selling a new car which is really still the old car. Try something new.

The nice thing about the AM

The nice thing about the AM is that, unlike the boring Porsche 911, they can play with it in so many ways and it looks different yet the same basic beauty and style remains. Whereas 911's have had a billimeter added here and there and called a "new" model.. This design is - and remains - timeless beauty
