New crossover won't be getting the M treatment

An M version of the 5-series GT has been ruled out by BMW.

The performance badge has recently found its way onto the X5 and X6 SUVs in an expansion of the brand, but the 5-series GT will not be getting the same treatment.

A company source told Autocar there are no plans for a hot GT, and the range topper will remain the twin-turbo V8 550i.

BMW has previously said that an M version of the new BMW Z4 will not be made.

I'm sure that BMW will, in future, check with you first, before releasing any new car. (It's the use of the word 'period' that sealed it)

Is this the same people who said an X5/X6 M would never be made?

Yes, the 5 series GT should have never been built. Period.

It is BMW's R Class.
