Geneva debut for 430bhp 6x6 variant of Kahn's Flying Huntsman, which is based on the Land Rover Defender

Kahn design has revealed a 6x6 version of its Project Flying Huntsman at the Geneva motor show.

Based on the Land Rover Defender 110, Kahn says the prototype vehicle - codenamed ‘Mission 1’ - is powered by a 6.3-litre GM LS3 V8 engine producing around 430bhp. Power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Those specs place the Flying Huntsman into direct competition with the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 which gets 536bhp from its 5.5-litre V8 engine, as well as 560lb ft.

These first show pictures, which come via Pistonheads, show the car has rugged styling, while still keeping many of the Land Rover Defender's styling cues.

The Huntsman 6x6 features locking differentials and a rugged chassis, as well as upgraded suspension and braking systems. Lengthened by a total of 1200mm, and widened by 150mm compared with the standard Flying Huntsman, Kahn says the 6x6 would be “comfortable outrunning any road-going SUV.”

Kahn says that other modifications, including converting the 6x6 into an armoured vehicle, have also been proposed, and the firm is currently mapping out a production schedule for both the four and six-wheel versions of the Flying Huntsman.

The interior hasn't been seen yet but Kahn says a full-length panoramic sunroof features as part of the cabin.

Although pricing has yet to be revealed, it’s likely the 6x6 will command a significant premium over the four-wheel Flying Huntsman, which will cost around £150,000.

Bloody daft

Making that huge leap of faith between the front wheel arch and the first of the rear wheel arch only makes me laugh. 6x6 or not - this will get stuck atop the first sand dune it encounters. I think those camel men will be staying with their Landcruisers for some time yet especially as they know it is the ONLY one whose a/c works perfectly and unfailingly at 50 plus C

The Wrath of Kahn

One of those cars I'm glad I can't afford.

Khan Can!

Just when you think Khan couldn't do more to show his lack of taste in modifications, he reaches new depths. Could it get worse? Khan Can!
