The Russian owner of Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker has survived an assassination attempt in Moscow.

Alexander Antonov was wounded in the stomach and lost his finger in the attack, which happened last Wednesday. His condition is not said to be life-threatening.

Antonov was attacked leaving his house. The assassin fired 18 times, with five bullets hitting him in the stomach, one in the chest and another in the finger. The attacker also wounded one of Antonov’s security guards in the leg.

His wife heard the shots and called the police, while another of Antonov’s guards took the financier to hospital.

Police have begun a search for the attacker but have yet to make any arrests.

Antonov's various assets are estimated to total about $3.5 billion (about £2.5 billion).
