London Mayor cancels Congestion Charge due to the adverse weather

The London Congestion Charge has been suspended for today by the city’s mayor, Boris Johnson, due to the weather.

Mr Johnson said motorists driving through the C-Charge zone in central London wouldn’t have to pay the charge because of the heavy snow that has crippled the capital’s transport system.

Speaking on Radio 4’s World at One, Mr Johnson said it would be unfair to charge drivers who had struggled through the snow and ice.

The capital’s entire bus service was out of action this morning and all but one tube line had delays and suspended services, leaving many with little option but to drive to work.
