Iconic Gulf livery to return to Le Mans with Aston Martin

Aston Martin Racing is ready for LeMans, today announcing a new alliance with Gulf Oils and unveiling the gorgeous new DBR9 GT1 racer in the iconic Gulf livery. Dave Richards - boss of Prodrive, the outfit that runs the AM LeMans team - was on hand to pull the wraps off the new car at the Autosport Show in Birmingham. He spoke of his “genuine optimism” that the British-based team would be able to defend its title at LeMans 24-hour race in 2008. This year also represents the 40th anniversary of Aston's first LeMans victory, when the team also raced in Gulf colours.Richards also spoke of Aston’s new GT2 racer, based on the V8 Vantage road car, which will go into GT Series competition next season. Prodrive will help to run a biofuel version of the GT2, to be driven by Lord Drayson, the peer who recently left office to race in the American LeMans series.
