Ford's centenary special features 1.25-litre unit and chrome exterior touches

Ford has launched a limited-edition version Ford Fiesta as part of its British centenary celebrations.

The Ford Fiesta Centura is based on the 1.25-litre version of the manufacturer’s Fiesta Zetec model and features that car’s 81bhp petrol engine.

The new edition, which comes in three and five-door versions, also boasts metallic black paint, chrome mirror and door caps and LED daylight-running lights.

Other kit on the special edition includes 16-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, reverse parking sensors and a parking camera mounted in the rear-view mirror.

The car will only be available in black, in a nod to the sole colour option that was available for the Model T, Ford’s first vehicle to be manufactured in the UK in 1911.

Only 1000 examples of the Fiesta Centura will be produced. The car will go on sale at the end of this month, priced at £13,395 for the three-door and £13,995 for the five-door.
