Nissan makes most cars in the UK for 12th successive year

Nissan has topped Britain's car production league for the 12th successive year.

The company’s Sunderland plant, which manufactures the Qashqai, Micra and Note, produced 338,150 cars last year – a third of the UK’s total output.

The Qashqai was the company’s strongest performer with nearly 200,000 cars being manufactured.

Notably, production of both the Note and Micra was boosted, thanks largely to the UK scrappage scheme and similar initiatives running throughout Europe.

Sunderland will begin production of the all-new Juke crossover in August.
