A court in Burgos, northern Spain, has cleared a man who was driving at 260km/h because he did not present a ‘definite danger’.Constantino Garcia, 43, argued that the Audi A8 he was driving was designed to go fast, that the motorway on which he was driving was in excellent condition, and that visibility was also excellent. “It was a straight road with little traffic,” said Garcia. “I’m sure 90 per cent of people would have done the same.”Although the motorway speed limit is 120km/h (75mph) , the prosecutor failed to convince the court that Garcia’s speeding presented a “concrete danger” to anyone.Garcia was initially stopped by police after being spotted by a radar trap. We’re not sure exactly what the police used to stop him – presumably a radio and a car several miles further on. Even speeding British cop Mark Milton would have struggled in his 159mph Vauxhall Vectra.
