Renault is set to return to the US market by selling its cars through Saturn dealerships.

Roger Penske has recently taken over Saturn from General Motors and it has been confirmed by Renault’s chief operating officer Patrick Pelata that Penske is interested in selling Renault models though Saturn dealers.

“He [Penske] is looking for cars to sell,” said Pelata. “He has looked at all car makers, and he has seen that Renault has a nice line-up, sharing power trains with Nissan that are obviously adapted to the U.S. market.”

“He's asking us: 'Do you want to sell us cars?' and we are discussing about how to sell him cars.”

GM will stop producing Saturn models for Penske in 2011 and it is likely Renault will takeover the supply after this date.

It is expected that any models supplied to Saturn by Renault will be made by its Korean subsidiary Samsung. Models made by Samsung include the QM5, which is based on the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Koleos.
