Steve Sutcliffe's six-page drive of the stunning Jaguar F-type R coupé heads up this week's edition of Autocar magazine, which is on sale now.

Sutcliffe hustles the Jaguar prototype around the Barcelona Grand Prix circuit, and draws on his depth of experience to deliver his verdict on just how good this car has the potential to be. Rest assured, he's impressed.

The packed issue also features our first drive of the Peugeot RCZ R in the UK, with our testers finding it to be an engaging and convincing addition to the fast coupé ranks. Nor is that the only good news for Peugeot - the Peugeot 308 is the subject of our full road test, and emerges from this most thorough assessment with flying colours, presenting itself as a potential class leader in some areas.

We also UK test the promising Infiniti Q50 S Hybrid, new Aston Martn Vanquish Volante, the Range Rover L TDV8 long-wheelbase car, and the Nissan Qashqai DIG-T Tekna.

A three-car test between the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, Lotus Elise and Porsche Cayman takes centre stage in our features section. Road test editor Matt Prior is the judge of this intoxicating showdown. Adding diversity to the fix, we also sample the Nissan's New York taxi, which is vying to take the same role in London, and interview the billionaire owner and creative mind of Tesla, Elon Musk.

Our long-term test fleet steps back several years this week, as technical editor Jesse Crosse adds his iconic used Porsche 930 to the fleet, a car he didn't actually mean to buy. Adding new car intrigue are the Renault Twizy and Renault Clio 200.

The used car buying guide offers an engaging alternative to the Audi Quattro, outing how you can buy a Audi Coupe S2 for less than £4000 now. Used car expert James Ruppert, meanwhile, mulls over the best generations of Ford Mustang for your money.

Autocar magazine is available through all good newsagents, and available for download from Zinio and the Apple iTunes store.
