The Weissach grapevine has been surprisingly upbeat for months. Amid a sea of depressing sales figures, Porsche engineers and designers would smile confidently and whisper: “Wait until you drive the new 911”. The gossipmongers know that Porsche’s very survival depends on this new iteration of the now 30-year-old 911. Perhaps cynically, we wondered if their words were just hyperbole. Now we know, and if you ask the obvious question – “What’s the new 911 like?” – our response, through a broad grin, would echo that of the Porsche men.
