Datsun 240Z 2.4 2dr review
Datsun 240Z 2.4 Road Test
Test date 06 May 1971
Price as tested £2,288
Everyone knows that nowadays it is hopelessly uneconomic to try to design a new sports car for mass production. Everyone, that is, except Datsun, whose 240Z appeared at the 1969 Tokyo motor show and is now in large-scale production, aimed primarily at the US market.
Datsuns started to come into Britain in a small way three years ago. Last year they sold 2000 cars. At the top of the tree comes the 240Z, not yet arriving in numbers but already the subject of enthusiastic orders; its one-two success in the East African Safari Rally has really whetted British sporting appetites.
