Lamborghini has revealed this new hardcore Gallardo Spyder, essentially a Superleggera version of the exotic open-top supercar.
Dubbed Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, the model is lighter than the car it is based on, with the firm having shaved almost 65kg from the standard car's weight, giving it a dry weight of no more than 1485kg. This is thanks to the use of carbonfibre and carbon composites on both its exterior and interior.

Carbonfibre is used for the retractable roof, diffuser, rear spoiler and some of its underbody, as well as for the door panels, bucketseat shells and its transmission tunnel. Lamborghini describes the Performante as "less weight, more fascination".
Styling and aerodynamic changes feature at the front to improve cooling and downforce, while the rear diffuser has also been re-designed for the same purpose. The brakes are also beefed-up, while lightweight 19-inch alloys are clad in special Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

Performance tweaks to its direct-injection 562bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine result in a new 0-62mph time of 3.9sec and a top speed of 201mph, but the changes also result in lower CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy.

Re: Lambo's hardcore open Gallardo
The pholicallychallengedgit, cynical?, no?, i think Lamborghini are producing some exciting design studies just now, and probably with a chance of making production, unlike some heritage rich British car makers, TA-TA!!!!?
Re: Lambo's hardcore open Gallardo
Lambo quote a dry weight of no more than 1485kg. This usually means that they are not happy with the real weight and are just quoting it to make the car lighter than it really is.
