Best new car deals
The latest Volkswagen Golf GTI fits the mould of a hot hatch as much its iconic Mk1 ancestor, bringing passion and desirability to the performance hatch sector. Drive the deal is currently offering up to £3,227 from the price of the 2.0-litre TSI GTI car, meaning customers only have to pay £23,496. That's a saving of over 12 per cent from the list price.
The Audi A5 combines sharp styling with a sublime cabin, plus its running costs are lower than you'd expect. With only a slightly poor ride letting it down, the A5 is a respectable contender in the sport coupé market. We found a brand-new entry-level 1.8-litre five-door model on Car-cost for £21,346, a saving of over £5000 from the £26,426 list price.
Best new car leasing deals
Like its five-door sibling, the three-door Seat Ibiza SC combines good looks with plenty of interior space and practicality. We found a 1.2-litre model in S trim on Fleetprices, which comes with 15-inch steel wheels, split folding rear seats and air-conditioning, for £128.75 per month. That's on a two-year contract, and includes an initial payment of £772.49 at the beginning and is based on 10,000-mile annual mileage limit. You'd best hurry, though, because that offer expires on 29 December.
As far as budget urban motoring goes, it's hard to beat the Citroën C1. It may not be the most refined model out there, but it's cute and, crucially, cheap. The model we found on Lease99 is a 1.0-litre VTR-spec five-door, which comes with electric front windows, remote central locking and air-conditioning, going for £51.60 per month. That's based on a deposit of £1806.79 and includes a 5000-mile limit annually.
Deal of the week
The Peugeot 508 saloon represents a significant challenge for the established family saloon class leaders. It's good looking and refined, with driving dynamics to match. We found a 2.0-litre HDi saloon in middle-spec Active trim for £13,994 on New Car Discount - that's a massive saving of £7,580 from the list price. The car comes with an integrated sat-nav, rear parking sensors and Peugeot's SOS assistance button.
