Special version of 2.7-litre Cayman packs extra standard equipment - priced from £45,989

Porsche is rolling out extra standard equipment on its latest special-edition version of the Cayman, the Cayman Black Edition.

The Black Edition is based on the regular Cayman - and is mechanically unchanged from that car - so it features a 271bhp 2.7-litre flat-six engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. It does get a longer standard equipment list than the regular model, though, including 20in Carrera Classic alloy wheels plus part-leather upholstery, bi-xenon headlights, aluminium side window trims, Porsche’s navigation system, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors and cruise control.

Dual-zone climate control and an upgraded stereo are also standard - and the Black Edition also gets the same driving course at Porsche’s Experience Centre at Silverstone that’s included across the rest of the firm’s line-up.

The Cayman Black Edition joins similar models in the Boxster and Porsche 911 ranges. It’s designed to offer more standard kit than both the regular Cayman and the Cayman S - so it’ll cost from £45,989, a premium of around £6000 over the entry-level model but around £3000 less than the more potent S.
