Volkswagen has dropped the 'Passat' tag from the previous Passat CC name, to boost its image
9 November 2011

Volkswagen has renamed its four-door coupé and dropped the slow-selling 3.6-litre V6 from the facelifted range, to be revealed at the LA motor show next week.

The previous ‘Passat’ tag has been dropped from the car’s official name to create the VW CC, a move that the firm hopes will boost the model’s image.

The facelift brings a more integrated front end featuring a wider grille, more heavily chromed grille and simpler-shaped headlamps. There are also new rear lamps.

The CC will go on sale in the UK next April.
