Cadillac has shown off its new flagship premium saloon - and it can be engineered for righ-hand drive the company has confirmed.

The over five metre long Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept is the first glimpse at the STS and DTS replacement, which is due to hit the US market in 2012. The plug-in hybrid XTS features the firm’s Art and Science design language seen in the smaller CTS, but the styling is more contemporary and less aggressive than traditional Cadillac models.

The all-wheel-drive XTS is able to travel on electric power only for short distances, with a 345bhp, 295lb ft 3.6-litre V6 engine providing power for longer distances.

It features Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control to boost its ride quality, with the system reading road conditions every millisecond to make the necessary adjustments to damping.

“The XTS Platinum Concept is the next expression of Cadillac’s Art and Science execution philosophy, reflecting our drive to deliver the latest innovations in the most artful manner,” said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager. “We envisioned this concept as an automotive personal headquarters, using advanced technology to enable new levels of connectivity and luxury.

“The concept was designed to deliver an engaging driving experience without compromising the functional features, space and comfort customers seek in a luxury car. It is a new vision of luxury that uses advanced technology to deliver functionality efficiently and rewardingly.”
