Mitsubishi’s Colt has been around since 1962, and started life as a larger family car than the current incarnation. It went on sale in the UK in 1974, and the first of the Colt hatchbacks arrived four years later.
Four generations of Colt have followed, and the current car is a joint project with Smart and shares a floorpan with the Forfour. There have been several performance versions, including the 1.8 16-valve GTi, but it’s the 1992 Colt Cyborg that’s most memorable, which offered 172bhp from its 1.6-litre engine.
