T1 to make debut in Monaco

The 1000bhp-per-tonne Freestream T1 - now called the Caparo after a company takeover - will be seen in the flesh for the first time in Monaco next week.

The 500kg two-seater, which features a V8 engine producing around 500bhp, will be publicly unveiled at the Top Marques show in Monaco on April 20. As befits a car show in the millionaire-strewn tax haven, the Top Marques exhibition frequently attracts high-performance brands like Bugatti and Ferrari.

The T1's two main designers, ex-McLaren engineers Ben Scott-Geddes and Graham Halstead, will perform the unveiling, along with Caparo Vehicle Technologies' chief executive Angad Paul.

The T1 can hit 60mph in 2.5sec and its 3g braking and cornering ability matches that of a Le Mans sports prototype. But equally, its 15-gallon fuel tank and light weight make for a range of up to 500 miles.
