New Mercedes SL models don't come along very often. There have been only six generations since the original 300SL. So can this lighter, faster, more efficient 430bhp, twin-turbo V8 Mercedes SL500 live up to expectations?

In fact, the SL is a big surprise  Smile - so capable of the glide that when you realise how far you can push the cornering speeds, you get mightily impressed. Smile It just hangs on and on - fighting understeer until the very end of your bravery.
