The new Volvo V60 is on sale now in the UK and costs from £23,145

Volvo has announced the new V60 estate is now on sale in the UK and will cost from £23,145.

It is available in four trim levels, with six engine options including four diesels and two petrols and deliveries are due to start in December 2010. It will come with four trim levels: ES, SE, SE Lux and R-Design. The top of the range T6 AWD SE Lux Geartronic Premium model will cost £37,895.

Trim levelsStandard equipment on the ES includes electronic climate control, cruise control, a new Infotainment system with 5in colour screen, steering wheel remote audio controls, 16in alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and gear stick, and a six-speaker audio system.

The SE trim level starts at £25,145 with the T3 engine and adds upgraded materials and trim to the cabin, automatic folding door mirrors, rain sensor, rear park assist, Bluetooth connectivity and 17in alloys as standard.

The top of the range SE Lux trim level adds leather-faced upholstery, power driver’s seat with memory, and active bending lights and headlamp cleaning.

The Volvo V60 R-Design models feature styling and chassis enhancements – which were unveiled at the Paris motor show – and are available from £25,695.

EnginesEntry into the engine range will be the D3 model, which pits out 161bhp and 295lb ft of torque from its 2.0-litre diesel powerplant. Combined economy 51.4mpg for the manual version (46.3mpg in Geartronic) and CO2 emissions are 144g/km (manual).

The 1.6-litre T4 variant, which is available with either a six-speed manual or Geartronic gearbox, has 178bhp, 177lb ft of torque and will take the manual version from 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph.

The addition of stop-start technology means CO2 emissions are 156g/km and fuel economy of 42.2mpg with the manual gearbox.

The 2.0-litre petrol engine powers the T5 variant and boasts 237bhp and 236lb ft of torque. In manual guise it will emit 189g/km CO2 (194g/km on the Geartronic option) and will return up to 34.9mpg on the combined cycle.

The flagship version is the all-wheel-drive T6 petrol with the Geartronic gearbox. It has a 300bhp 3.0-litre engine that gives combined economy of 28.5mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 237g/km.

It will go from 0-60mph in under six seconds and will continue on to a top speed of 155mph.

Well said! It could easily though be called the Volvo T6 AWD almost as good as a BMW but not quite, but try it anyway Lux Geartronic Premium....

Soon the cars will have to be much wider accomodate the names - why can't we go back to the 70's and 80's with L GL Ghia, Lux, or similar!! With the option lists available now no model definition is really required is it?

Bit of insight for you: these convoluted descriptions are needed if a model is going to succeed in today's fleet and business market (crucial for cars like this Volvo).

1. Lots of company car drivers can choose where they spend their allowance but cannot spec any options. If a version with sat nav (for example) is not listed as a model in its own right, they can't have it!

2. When it comes to the used market, expensive options (AWD, sat nav, B&O stereo etc) rarely recoup even a fraction of their cost, so the projected residual values don't go up. For a fleet operator that's throwing money away when it comes to handing the cars back. The solution is again to market these spammed-up versions as cars in their own right ("Premium", "Lux" etc), so they can be treated individually and get their own residual values calculated.
