15 February 2010
Former General Motors Europe boss Carl-Peter Forster is the new group CEO of Tata Motors, the company has announced.
Forster, 55, formerly boss at Chevrolet, Saab, Vauxhall and Opel, left GM Europe when negotiations to sell the company to Magna fell through. Prior to that he was a board member at BMW.
He will have the overall responsibility of Tata Motors Operations globally, including Jaguar Land Rover.
"Tata Motors expects that Mr Forster’s induction will greatly facilitate its ambition towards being a truly international company," said Tata chairman Ratan Tata in a statement.
Jaguar Land Rover's chief executive David Smith left the company last month.
