New car hits the streets

An internal video of the Rolls-Royce Ghost has appeared on the internet showing the car on the public roads for the first time.

The footage features Dan Balmer, product manager for the Ghost, driving the car in both the city and on country roads.

The Ghost is slated for launch at the Frankfurt motor show next month and the video features a pre-production prototype.

Despite the car, which accelerates to 60mph in 4.7 seconds, having “supercar figures”, Balmer says the ride is “something else”.

The steering is also described as being light without disconnecting the driver from the road.

The Ghost is quiet when cruising but under acceleration the nose lifts and the all-new twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 engine is audible in the cabin.

The Ghost will produce 563bhp and 575lb ft of torque at 1500rpm, while 0-60mph will take 4.7sec.

The car's top speed will be capped at 155mph and the V12 will be mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
