Lowered, tweaked naturally aspirated new GTS gets is barely slower than Turbo

Porsche will slot a new 405bhp GTS model into the narrow gap in the Cayenne range between the range-topping Turbo and non-turbo S.Slated for UK sale in February 2008, the GTS is described as "an even-more road-focused" Cayenne and features steel springs that lower the chassis by 24mm. Air suspension, remains on the options list.A tweaked version of the non-turbo 4.8-litre V8 is at the heart of the GTS, with 20bhp more power than the S, but torque the same at 369lb ft.A six-speed manual 'box is standard, as is a shorter rear-diff ratio at 4.1:1 compared to the standard 3.55:1.These two improvements shorten the 0-62mph drag to 6.1sec, only about 0.5sec adrift of the Turbo. There are interior tweaks, too, including new front sports seats trimmed in Alcantara and a rear seat formed with two individual buckets. A conventional, three-belt bench seat remains an option. Prices have yet to be confirmed.
